About Making, Renovations, Restorations

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

When I think about it, I have been restoring things all my life.

When we came to Australia (I was 5 years old) we had nothing and made furniture from fruit boxes, padded and lined.  I remember them looking beautiful.  My mother was very courageous.

My aunt was a seamstress who travelled the world with her Singer Sewing Machine - hand operated of course.  so I grew up surrounded with fabric, pins and ideas.  Later I worked restoring (among other skills) as far away as New York.

Now I am employed by local galleries and antique shops to mend anything from paintings to fabric panels, from sculptures to dolls - and I love it.  What can I mend/darn for you?  I also upcycle garments, making a number of old garments into one, fabulous,  up to the minute piece of fashion.

JAHNE AT WORK

In the section above you can see an oil painting in the process of being restored.  It was painted in the 1920's by an artist in NewZealand.  It will look splendid in the restored frame don't you think?

The picture to the left of the red with flowers is a very large oriental wooden bowl with lid.  It was in a sorry state, but it too is on its way to a great finish...

BOTH OF THEM WILL BE FOR SALE, (SORRY! ALL SOLD!!! in just one week)

More on the way.
